MEMORANDUM RE HONGKONG & JESSELTON WIRELESS INSTALLATIONS.

These two stations are in active competition

against the cable communications of the Eastern Extension

Telegraph Company.

The Hongkong station is operated by the

Government Post Office and works with:-

MANILA

INDO-CHINA

INLAND CHINA

SIAM

DUTCH EAST INDIES

BRITISH NORTH BORNEO

EUROPE & AMERICA via MANILA (Radio

Corporation of America).

The Jesselton (British North Borneo) station

is operated by the Government which works with:-

HONGKONG

PHILIPPINES (via HONGKONG).

In the case of the Hongkong station, we are now

advised by our Shanghai representative that it is proposed

in the near future to establish direct communication

between the Hongkong Radio Station and one of the

Reconstruction Council's Shanghai stations, which, in the

case of China, constitutes a violation of the Joint Purse

arrangements between China and the Eastern Extension and

Great Northern Companies for Hongkong, Foochow, Amoy and Shanghai local traffics.

It has been agreed by the Postmaster General
